We are looking forward to a super fun week with our field trip to the pumpkin farm!  Permission slips will go home tomorrow.  We are looking forward to seeing you on Thursday at 9:30 at Schmitt's Farm in Melville.  Details are on the permission slip.

Fall songs and poems:  This wonderful season lends itself to many songs and poems about leaves, apples, and pumpkins!  We learn new songs FREQUENTLY so please encourage your child to share them with you.  Ask them about:  Our Good Morning Pre-k Friends song, Way up High in the Apple tree poem, I am special song, Leaves are falling, 1 Little 2 Little 3 Little Leaves.  This week we'll teach them 5 Little pumpkins.

Math graphs and numeracy:  We continue to use math each day during center time and circle time.  We reinforce our numeral identification with beading and connecting cubes.

Religion:  I hope you have been enjoying the weekly SEEDS publication that we send home each Friday.  We use it to discuss the Gospel reading for the upcoming Sunday.  Then we send it home for you to reinforce and enjoy with you child after hearing the Gospel as Mass.

Science:  Pumpkins, pumpkins, and more pumpkins!  We'll be looking at the life cycle of the pumpkin and exploring various experiments with pumpkins.

Sensory Table and Vertical wall:  Always explored....ask you child what was in the sensory table this week!

Literacy Series:  Our literacy series will start on October 17, along with the nightly homework.  We begin with the story of Little Red Riding Hood.

Fire Safety Month:  Always a big hit with the children.  We will be talking about calling 911, Stop, Drop, and Roll, and fire drills.  We are also looking forward to a visit from our local Fire Department!

OUR GYM CLASS IS ON TUESDAY!  PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD WEARS SNEAKERS ON TUESDAY!  If your child does not have sneakers, he/she will not be allowed to participate.

Field trip - October 20:   Permission slips will be going home this week.  Schmitt's Farm in Melville has been a wonderful destination for our pumpkin patch field trip for the past couple of years.
